Apex Legends' Season 6 landed on August 18th with a lot of surprises in the weapons tier. Although some of the classics are still exactly what you should be getting your hands on, there's some extremely unexpected buffs.

We're not joking, the Mozambique is on this list.

Devotion (heavy machine gun, care packages)

It’s tricky to find but with a fire rate of 15 and comfortably the deadliest weapon in the game, if you spot Devotion, pick it up immediately.

It got nerfed to no longer appear as a random drop last season, so you’ll need a care package to get your hands on one but if you needed any more reasons to grab loot, the chance of one of these game changers absolutely is it.

Season 6 has reduce the clip size on the Devotion’s energy ammo but you don’t need a weapon this powerful to go for long.

Kraber (sniper rifle)

Season 6 keeps the Kraber as a ‘one shot, one kill’ gun with the right accuracy - any Legend will go down with a headshot.

It’s still slow to reload and you better be well-hidden wherever you’re sniping from (cus boy, do people want to take this one off you) because you're totally vulnerable while it's on cool down but the Kraber's still an absolute must-grab.

Aside from anything else, you don't want to be the one it takes down. And the satisfaction of levelling someone after you've done your time in the firing range? Unparalleled.

Longbow (sniper rifle)

Massively buffed in Season 5 by adding the ability to equip this with a Skullpiercer, the Longbow still rocks. Yes, it doesn't deal as much damage as the Kraber but the chances you grab one of these are so much higher, with it still being out in the open in mid-and-high range loot areas.

It's got a much better reload time than a proper shotgun and if you spend enough time practicing your headshots, this is basically a bargain bucket baby Kraber as soon as you whack the Skullpiercer on it. And if you just want to hurt someone beforehand, then the accuracy is easily enough of an argument to keep it your favourite sniper rifle.

Hemlok (assault rifle)

Ah, the Hemlok. How we love you.

Found anywhere, regardless of loot tier (and staying that way) the Hemlok almost feels overpowered in Season 6. The nasty recoil that was the best argument for dropping it in Season 5 is gone and so accuracy has gone way up.

It's still not a good long-range choice but for something that will serve so much damage in both a close and mid-range fight and is so easy to get your hands on, the Hemlok is here to stay. So long as you practice your accuracy with it - remember, everyone else might have one, too...

R-99 (sub-machine gun, supply drops)

We probably would’ve put the R-301 above this  for Season 5; the R-99 is great but it’s so ubiquitous there’s every chance your opponent had one so there’s not necessarily an edge to be gained.

Especially because before, the recoil was so horrible there was a decent chance you’d miss. Well: no more, since the R-99 has moved to supply drops and suddenly become one to grab.

You’re almost certainly up to speed with it already and with its incredible short-range damage and massive clip, it doesn’t take ages on the firing range to become a threat with one of these.

Mozambique (shotgun pistol)

No, we can't believe this, either.

Much maligned - and totally rightly so, to be honest - the Mozambique has gone from being the equivalent of walking into a gun fight with a wet paper towel to …actually useful?

It’s still one of the weaker weapons in the game but it’s so ubiquitous that the fact it can actually win fights now is kind of incredible. Add Hammerpoint rounds to take down mid-health opponents in one and with an accurate four shots you can get a full-health opponent down at mid-range.
