How to change your Fortnite name

Have you got a bit of a goofy display name that you made on Fortnite once upon a time because you thought it would be hilarious, but now you’ve changed your mind completely? Well, luckily for you, there are many who are in the exact same predicament as you and there is an easy way to change your Fortnite name!

Your Fortnite name, depending on whether or not you play on PC on console, may be changed by altering your Epic Games display name, as the two are synced with one another for PC. 

This will not have any effect on those users who play Fortnite on PlayStation or Xbox and users will need to use a service provided by Sony or Microsoft in order to carry out the same command of changing your display name for those consoles.

For PC players, the process of changing your Fortnite display name is very quick and simple; please see the short video and steps below to do so.

Your email address must be verified before you can change your display name. Go here to learn how to verify it, if you haven't done so. 

1. Visit your account's ACCOUNT INFO page.
2. In the box labeled DISPLAY NAME, enter your desired new display name.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click SAVE CHANGES.

If you’ve only played on console (PSN, Xbox, or Switch) and you want to create a display name for your Epic Games account, you will need to upgrade your account to a full Epic Games account. You can find instructions on how to do that here. 

Alternatively, if you would like to change your Fortnite name for console, then you must change your gamertag or in-game ID for whichever console you use. This may be done on the settings menu of your console, or you may access the same command by visiting the Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo website for further information.
