The Rainbow Six Siege professional community has taken to Twitter to openly discuss a potential change to the competitive map pool. It appears that Rainbow Six Siege Theme Park is on its way out of the competitive map pool after pros globally decided to vote it out for the next season of Rainbow Six Esports.

Theme Park out

Several professionals began talking about how Theme Park was out of the competitive map pool openly on Twitter. It appears that Ubisoft sent a poll out to the professional community to discuss what competitive maps feature next season. Former professional player, Pengu released a thread on Twitter, where many players communicated their thoughts.

With the poll sent out, the results imply that Theme Park is the least popular.  However, the discussions around it suggest that is not exactly the case. European teams seem to enjoy the map at large, adding depth to the map pool, while encouraging teams to learn the map and keep the competition on its toes.

It is also generally considered the battle between BDS and G2 Esports in T1, and the battle between MnM and Gamma are good examples of how exciting the map can be. Comparatively, Coastline doesn't get anywhere near as iconic matches as Theme Park has generated in recent seasons.

Is this the right move?

Furthermore, the competitive map pool has older maps fans and players who complain about boring gameplay. Coastline is one such map, as it generally causes attack sided rounds. Ubisoft designed Coastline with open roofs, where players can deny the Defenders the opportunity to roam successfully. In addition, the site has very few defender favourable positions. Pool / Hookah is one of the only decent defender positions out of four different sites.

Plenty of the older maps have been taken out of the competitive map pool to get a needed update. Border is a fine example, as Ubisoft reworked Border and took it out of the map pool several seasons ago. Perhaps it is time for the Coastline to get that treatment rather than taking Rainbow Six Siege Theme Park out.
